We like to hold a sponsored challenge over February half term. Entry is free to all pupils (no minimum sponsorship required) so that everybody can have fun, but we have also raised a lot of money, too, thanks to some very generous sponsors and hard work from the children.
Our most popular challenge so far has been the Matchbox Challenge, where each child is given a plain craft matchbox and asked to fit as many different items into it as possible. Children ask people to sponsor them to do so. The children are also invited to decorate their matchbox. Prizes are awarded for the most creative matchbox designs, the most items in the matchbox and the most money raised, with prizes awarded in different age groups. The children raised over £1,400 in 2019 and just over £1,700 in 2022.
We've also done a 'helping hands challenge', where children were asked to raise money by completing chores over half term. Prizes were awarded for completing the most chores, raising the most money and doing the most inspiring, unusual or creative chore.
