Leaving celebrations

Every year, we aim to give £600 (approx. £10 per pupil) to the school, as a donation towards the leaving celebrations for Year 6.

The school usually uses the money to pay for the leaving disco and food, the performance the children put on to celebrate their time at the school (props, licences etc) and a contribution towards the children's yearbooks.  School also arranges additional activities not covered by our donation.

Our main charitable objective is to advance the education of pupils in the school.  Our yearly £600 donation is an incentive for the children to make the most of their time in school and to participate in the school community fully and thus meets our objective.  Additionally, the performance by Year 6 is shown to other year groups, so it encourages younger children, too.  We also see it as a way to thank our Year 6 children and their families for their support during their time with us.

Leaving a gift

We know that some families will want to leave the school a gift as their child moves on to secondary school.  Please consider donating via Friends of Culvers House, as we can claim Gift Aid on any donations made by UK tax payers (the school cannot do this).  This means that for every £1 you donate, we receive £1.25 and this is all donated to the school.

Completing a Gift Aid Declaration for your donation not only enables us to claim an additional 25% from HMRC; if you are a higher rate tax payer, it also allows you to claim the difference in tax you paid compared to the basic rate.

If you would like to specify what your donation can be used for, we are happy to accept donations as 'restricted funds', as long as the project is consistent with our charitable purpose.  Of course, school has to agree, too!  If you would like to discuss your ideas, please use the form below.  Acceptance of restricted funds will be confirmed at a committee meeting.
